12 Days of Christmas Tradition

Welp, the Christmas season is officially over.  The tree came down last night and the room was cleaned and rearranged!  I wanted to take a quick minute to talk about my 12 Days of Christmas Tradition though.

The twelve days of Christmas starts the day after Christmas and is celebrated each day until January 6, the 12th day or Little Christmas.  The 6th is also known as the Epiphany, or the day that celebrates when the wise men reached Jesus.

Ever since I was a child, I would get a small gift from the elf (my mom) each of the 12 days!  It was a great way of keeping the Christmas spirit alive through the new year.  As I got older, I started getting little stocking gifts for my mom for the twelve days too.  This is the first year that I have brought my roommates in on the tradition.  These are not extravagant gifts by any means.  In fact, some were homemade.  [I will include an example at the bottom of this post!]

I think my favorite gift was the for the 12th day, we were all together and got to go out to dinner and to the movies to see the new Jumanji (which I 10/10 recommend).  My actual gift to them was popcorn and chocolate, but time and togetherness ended up being way more important.

If you don’t celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, I challenge you to try it next year.  Give or do something small for someone in your life for 12 days and let the Christmas spirit embody the start of your new year!
