Goodbye 2017 [PLUS a Yummy New Years Eve Treat]

Goodbye 2017.  It’s been real.  I can’t believe that it’s already the end of another year!  I figured to wrap up the year I would share a highlight of mine from each month of this past year.

January: I think one of my favorite moments from January is the night when my college friends and I had a pajama game night and finally got a picture with all eight of us in it! Who knew it would be so difficult to get a simple picture!

February: I spent my weekends visiting some friends and exploring their college towns with them!  It was honestly so much fun to see their schools and hang out with them all!

Dinner with my friend Emily
Fun Fact: We’ve been friends since we met on the first day of seventh grade!
I also spent a weekend with Claire at UIUC
Fun Fact: This friend group formed our freshman year of high school in band on a trip to Disney (three others not pictured that didn’t go to UIUC)

March: I got to take a spring break trip with my friends to Florida.  We are obsessed with Disney and the four of us got to spend a glorious week in the sunshine!

Olivia, Keely, me, and Alexa at Hollywood Studios
Me, Keely, and Olivia had dinner at Ohana at the Polynesian. Alexa caught some bug so spent the day recovering at the hotel 🙁
Before the firework show on our last night in the parks
I stayed later than my friends to catch a last few moments and rides before the park closed. The photographer snapped this as I was leaving at the bitter end

April: I don’t know about you, I’m feeling 22!  I had a fun time celebrating with my birthday twin and then with my family back home!

With my friend Mica on our 22nd! Fun fact: she transferred to my college in the middle of sophomore year and was thrown into our friend group via room her assignment! [and it wouldn’t be the same without her!!]
My parents and I went to a show called Cavalia then went to Rainforest Cafe for my birthday tradition!

May: I really enjoyed celebrating graduation with all my friends!  I was super connected because it was technically my class (I graduated a year early).  I am so proud of all that my friends are already accomplishing!

The second picture with all 8 of us! So proud of the class of 2017!!
Celebrating the class of 2017 with Alexa and her brother Mitch and Keely and her brother Max!
How many eyes are in this picture? At the senior event called The Last Hurrah to watch the sunset on Lake Michigan!

June: I moved into a new house with Keely [and Alexa moved in a little bit later].  It was so fun to get settled in and spend time together and enjoy the summer weather!

Finally got my own furniture for my room that’s not to decorated yet in this picture!
I love the white with subtle hints of pink and emerald

July: I love summer!  My parents and I went on a road trip down to Florida!  We stopped in Atlanta, Orlando, St. Augustine, Savannah, Cheyanne, and Gatlinburg, among other quick stops!

A view of Atlanta (also a classic TWD scene)
With the fam in Disney
Got dinner with Emily in Florida!! (The same one from my Feb favorite) She moved down here after graduation and has been interning and volunteering as a dolphin trainer (like how cool is she guys!!!)
We ended up running into my aunt and uncle on their vacation in Savannah! We had no idea we would be in the same place on the same day, but we grabbed some food together before going our separate ways.
We drove through the Smoky Mountains along the Blue Ridge Highway and saw some stunning little waterfalls and views!

August: The highlight of August was just spending time with friends!

Had an awesome game night at Olivia’s aunt’s house!
Cooked a yummy dinner to catch up with my friend Anna (and then went to putt putt)!
Me, Karissa, and Elizabeth visited our old high school for a football game!

September: I went camping for the first time ever!  It was super rustic and such a blast!!  I went over Labor day weekend with Keely, her brother Max, and friends.  I only have a picture from the beach, otherwise I didn’t do a very good job photo documenting the weekend.  I also spent some time with some college friends back in my hometown which was a blast!

Me and the camping crew! Found this pic on facebook that someone else took
Did some shopping at the mall and ate at the Cheesecake Factory with Olivia and Elizabeth
Then went to dinner and drinks with Olivia and Mica at Punch Bowl Social

October: I started Tea with Tara!  It’s honestly been such a blast working on this blog for the past three months, and I’m excited to watch it grow over the next year!

November: Spending time with family over Thanksgiving is always a highlight!  My dad and I also cooked second Thanksgiving to surprise my mom on the Friday after!

December: What with it being Christmastime it’s nearly impossible to just pick one highlight of this month.  As you know, I saw the Nutcracker, learned to ski, decorated for Christmas, twice, and obviously celebrated a lot with the family.  But I honestly think that yesterday’s trip to the Museum of Science and Industry with my parents was the greatest too!!

With Alexa, who taught me how to ski

And now for the moment you’ve all been anxiously anticipating!  A recipe for a yummy NYE treat!  My mom loves making these for parties or dinners and the best part is they’re super quick, easy, and tasty!  I hope you enjoy!!

Cinnamon Spiced Pecans

1/2 cup sugar

3 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg white

Mix dry ingredients.  Slightly beat egg white and mix into pecans until coated.  Sprinkle with sugar mixture.  Bake in a single layer at 300 degrees for 20 minutes.  Cool on waxed paper.  Enjoy!
