How has it already been another month!? Thanksgiving is checked off the list and the Christmas decorations are up. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. 🙂
Since it’s the end of the month again, I wanted to share what I’ve loved reading, listening to, and watching this month.
This month I finished two books. It’s not as much progress I would like to be making towards my goal, but December is usually my power reading month where I read ALL. THE. BOOKS. I’m definitely looking forward to some time off work curled up by the fireplace and Christmas tree with a bunch of good books!
I finally finished Crazy Love by Francis Chan. It was such a motivational and inspirational read and I’m so glad I finally decided to finish it.
Similarly, I purchased Lysa TerKeurst’s Uninvited last month. I read that one when I finished Crazy Love. I feel like it was really beneficial to read them together because a lot of the ideas overlapped in some way or another. Both came at a time when I really needed the comfort of their words and they truly spoke to me as I sat and read them.
I’ve started another book to follow those two that I plan to finish in December. I’m a few chapters in to Marshall Segal’s Not Yet Married and I am loving it! It’s a refreshing perspective of trying to live your best life and in the moment to find joy in times of singleness. I think that it has also played on some of Francis and Lysa’s ideas, so it has also been a great read to help me grow as a Christian and as a person in general.
I haven’t had a ton of time for much reading outside of this, but I’m hoping to crack down and finish a bunch in the next month including Into the Water by Paula Hawkins andTurtles All the Way Down by John Green. I’ll check in next month to let you know if I finish them!
I’ve been listening to a bunch of podcasts again this month, especially on my long drives to Chicago. I mentioned some of these last month and some of them I have on my list for December!
-Deadly Manors: Season 1 wrapped up this week. It’s 10 episodes in its entirety and worth a listen. It’s a classic who done it mystery with a bunch of great actors voicing the main characters!
-The Black Tapes: this podcast just aired its final episode! It was an interesting story, although the end got a little weird. I would say the first season was the best in this one. It’s on the scary side, so be sure to listen in the daytime, never alone at night (trust me on that one haha).
-Sword and Scale: This one was recently recommended to me and I am excited to start it. It sounds like each episode is a new true crime story.
-Serial: I’ve heard so many people promoting this one, but I just haven’t pulled the trigger on listening to it yet. I’m adding it to my December listen list. I’ll let you know how it is next month!
I love podcasts that are in the style of the old time-y radio dramas. I love the idea that it’s like watching television in your mind. In this way, it’s almost more real because your imagination fills in the story in a way that a simple video cannot. If you know of any other good podcasts like this, please let me know!!
I also am including 17 more songs that I’ve had on repeat for the month of November. It’s full of Pentatonix, Christmas, and Taylor Swift! Be sure to give it a listen on Spotify.
I saw one movie this month and I would absolutely recommend it! A Bad Moms Christmas was hilarious and a perfect night out with the girls. None of us are actually moms, yet the plot and lessons are still super relatable. I loved Bad Moms and the sequel did not disappoint!
I finally finished Stranger Things 2 and can we just take a moment to appreciate the mom status of Steve Harrington? Talk about character development! Again, great show and highly recommend if you haven’t watched it yet!
