October is Over? What I’ve Loved This Month

Holy moly friends.  How is it already the end of October?  I feel like I just started my countdown to Halloween yesterday and now it is already tomorrow.  Time truly flies.

Well since it’s the end of a month, I would like to share some things that I have been loving this past month and some things I’m looking forward to in November.

Reading

I figured I would start with books.  I love reading and always have a goal to read as many books as possible in a year.  Last year I think I made it to 31.  These past few months I was slowing down but I picked up the pace this month and have finally finished a few books that I was savoring.

The book I would like to share with you is The Lying Game by Ruth Ware.  It’s her newest psychological thriller.  Side note, her other books, The Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark, Dark Wood  are also phenomenal.  If you’ve never heard of her, I would say her books are similar to Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train.  Without any spoilers, I really like Ware’s writing that puts you in the minds of the character to feel what they are feeling and to try to figure out what is going on at the same time as them.

In the next month, I would like to finish Crazy Love by Francis Chan along with The Sacrament of Happy by Lisa Harper.  I also bought Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst that I would like to read.  The last one on my list for November (that I don’t know if I will have time for) is Paula Hawkins’ latest book Into the Water.  Have you read any of these? What do you think of them?

Listening

I picked my the top 17 songs that I have been listening to on repeat this month and am sharing the Spotify playlist with you!

I also wanted to include some of the podcasts I have been listening to this month.  I was only recently introduced to the world of podcasts, but my favorite ones are definitely the ones that tell a story and pull you into the story’s universe.

Here are my top 3 podcasts I have been listening to this month:

The Black Tapes:  This is perfect for Halloween.  The general story is trying to disprove paranormal occurrences, however they have stumbled across some that cannot be explained away.  It turns into a bigger discovery and more and more details are uncovered.  The podcast is on its third season this fall!

Rabbits: This is another one by the same makers of The Black Tapes so the feel of the podcast is similar.  This one is a little less spooky, but still very intricate and mysterious and it keeps you guessing at what to come.  There has been one season so far, but hopefully season 2 will be coming soon.

Deadly Manners: I started this one because the voices are all famous people including Kristen Bell.  So far it seems a little similar to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, but there have only been 5 episodes so far.  I am interested in seeing how the show progresses.

Have you been listening to any good music or podcasts lately? Let me know!

Watching

October is the month for fall premieres.  I wanted to list my favorite shows this month.  Let me know if you’ve seen any of these or if there’s one not included here that I should watch!

  • The Good Doctor: New medical show about an autistic surgeon.
  • This is Us: This one is all about family and its so heartwarming.
  • The Walking Dead:  I love getting into the psychology behind this one. The interactions and character development are endlessly fascinating to me.
  • Stranger Things 2:  Have you all already binged this one?  I’m halfway through all ready.
  • Grey’s Anatomy:  I honestly thought I was ready to be done with this show, but it has sucked me back in again this season.  Have you watched and are you still?

Well that’s it for October!  What have been your favorite things this month? Let me know in the comments below!! 🙂
